Home Maintenance Projects to tackle this Fall

by Michelle Lucca

As the leaves start to change color and the air gets crisp, it's time to start thinking about tackling some home maintenance projects. After all, there's no better time to take care of your home than when the weather is cooperating! Here are a few ideas to get you started.

1. Give your gutters a good cleaning.

This is important to do at least once a year to avoid any water damage to your home. Gutters that are full of leaves and debris can cause water to back up and seep into your roof or walls, leading to expensive repairs down the road.

2. Inspect your windows and doors.

Take a close look at all of the seals around your windows and doors. If you notice any cracks or gaps, now is the time to caulk them up to prevent drafts from coming in (and your energy bills from going up!).

3. Drain and store any outdoor hoses or Sprinklers for the winter.

Be sure to turn off the water supply to these items as well so that they don't freeze and burst over the colder months.

4. Check your furnace filter and replace it if necessary.

A new filter will help improve the efficiency of your furnace and keep the air in your home nice and clean.

By taking care of a few key home maintenance projects this fall, you can avoid any big problems down the road. Plus, you'll be able to enjoy the winter months worry-free!
