20 Things to Do While Stuck Inside

I know everyone may be going a little stir crazy during this quarantine. Here are some activities to try to break up the days. Tell me what you think! If you have other suggestions, comment below. I, for one, never thought I’d have the time to be a blogger, so here you go:

  1. Watch Online Documentaries:

There are 1000s of videos which cover 100s of topics available for free through Youtube. Learn some new things to do. If you have kids, find one about what they are currently learning for school.

  2. Learn New Things:

Type in google what you are passionate about to learn more. Educate yourself on what you find fascinating.

  3. Garden:

Purchase a few cheap seeds and see what grows! Try giving positive affirmations to one plant and negative comments to the other and see what happens. Creates a great learning lesson for children (and adults). Also, this will help let out your frustrations.

  4. Knit/Crochet:

Create scarfs or blankets for upcoming holidays. Finances might become tight so this is a great way to plan ahead for gift giving. Plus knitting is very therapeutic and makes you happy!

  5. Color and Draw:

Not just for kids! Give it a try.

  6. Practice Yoga and Meditation:

Find a tutorial video. Great for the whole family to bring stress levels down and to learn patience.

  7. Read a Book:

Read for yourself or read to your kids to keep everyone occupied.

  8. Learn a Language:

There are many great free resources to learn the basics. Practice with family to get the hang of basic conversation.

  9. Play Board Games:

Many games are available for download online including dominoes, printable dice, battleship, chess, backgammon, checkers, rummy cube, tic tac toe, and many more!

  10. Learn Magic Tricks:

All you need is basic household items to get started. Have family contest to keep it interesting!

  11. Create a Bucket List:

Being in quarantine can put into perspective the things we have taken for granted.  Make a list of all the things you want to do in life for when we no longer have to social distance ourselves.  Things you can do now are sure to pop up on that list.

  12. Teach Your Pet Tricks:

If you have a pet, this is a great way to spend your time. Teach them new tricks like roll over! You may even get a little exercise while you’re at it.

  13. Build LEGOS:

    create a LEGO masterpiece

  14. Learn to Cook or Bake:

Grab that dusty cook book and follow a recipe

  15. Make a Treasure Hunt:

Get creative and leave clues for your family around the house for hidden treasure!

  16. Properly Recycle:

Maybe not a “fun” activity but something we should really pay attention to!

  17. Make a To-Do list:

Many of us have put off doing a lot of things because we didn’t have time. Well now we do, so get started!

  18. Mixology:

Experiment with new ingredients to create the perfect cocktail.

  19. Learn to Sew:

Us short people should learn how to hem our own pants. No time like today to begin.

Small business could really use your help during these times. Are you wishing for your favorite restaurant or do you miss shopping at your favorite retail store? Make it public! You may not be able to financially support these businesses right now but this is a great way to show your support!! Send us a review here!

You might add to your article that people should begin to clean the inside of their homes. Get rid of olds clothes and donate them or old toys. Thiey could even plan to have a yard sale. Drop used books off to nursing homes or schools that could use them. Cook family dinner and have everyone eat together. Have a book study with friends by way of phone conversations or Skype. Just thinking!
Loved the article and wanted to provide some suggestions. ❤️

Great suggestions! There are so many things we can all do to help each other out, especially during these times. Setting aside abandoned toys and books for donations is a perfect idea. We are lucky to have many ways to stay in touch with friends and loved ones while honoring social distancing. Hopefully, we’ll all spring back from these times with clean homes, renewed friendships, and better mindfulness of our health and happiness. I wish you and your family the best. Thanks for the tips!
